Fauna Europaea: This is the web site upon which I have based much of my classification of the Israeliinsects. It has also been an invaluable tool in checking up on changes in Nomenclature. Without it I would not have been able to make this check-list.
Flora of Israel online: This is an incredible site that should be a constant reference for every Israeli entomologist. For my part I'm rather ignorant with regard to plants, but a knowledge of plant hosts is essential and this is the best way to acquire it.
the National Museum of Natural History at Tel-Aviv University This museum contains the largest collection of Israeliinsects comprising some 2 million specimens. The curator is Dr Amnon Freidberg. To quote " It represents most of Israel's diverse insect fauna estimated at ca. 15,000-20,000 species, of which an estimated 2,000 have not yet been identified."
The Agricultural Research Organization of Israel This Organization comprises a number of Institutes, among them being the Institute of Plant Protection. On-going entomological research with regard to insect pests, and Cv's of the researchers can be found at this site.
Plant Protection and Inspection Service. PPIS. This Department includes the Quarantine Service whose objective is to prevent insect pests from establishing themselves in Israel. It also includes the insect collection, mainly of insect agricultural pests, collected since the 1920s during the British Mandate and now re-housed under climatically controlled conditions funded by a donation from the late Prof. Vermesh.
Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection: On this site you can find valuable information of an entomological flavour - for example, the invasive lesser fire-ant and its spread in the Jordan valley.
Israel Insect World: by Rittner Oz. This is the only serious (non governmental) web site on Israeliinsects dedicated to the insect lover. It contains some fantastic pictures.
Environmentally Friendly Stored Products Protection This is a site I prepared when I worked in the Agricultural Research Organization. The emphasis is on the control of stored product insect pests by non chemical means.
